native, Jennifer Hughes has been a member of PEEUA group effort since 2019. Her journey in early education began at the age of 16 as a preschool classroom assistant, culminating in years of experience in multiple roles including center director. After earning a master’s degree in education, Mrs. Hughes has pursued a career in early education including programming targeted directly in centers and homes to conduct assessments, evaluate quality, assess child development, provide intervention, conduct and deliver training, and support child care providers. Along with other early educators in the community Mrs. Hughes helped formulate a vision and mission for the PEEUA and led the effort towards building a foundation for a nonprofit to serve educators and children directly. Mrs. Hughes contributes to many efforts in the community related to the vision of the PEEU including the Concerned Organization for the Quality Education of Black Students and it’s School Readiness subcommittee. She is a focused sales professional who also owns and runs Short and Sweet Events, LLC. She has over 15 years sales experience, specializing in wedding and private events. Ms. Robbins is a native of South St. Petersburg and has worked part time in childcare and preschool settings as she pursued her career goals and has many years of experience and trainings related to early education. She is committed to serving her community and has years of skill development in coordinating and producing events that enhances the quality of life for others. She attended Vanderbilt University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Human & Organizational Development and Spanish. After graduation, she worked as a 3rd-grade bilingual math, science, and social studies educator in Houston, TX. She also has experience with photography, school operations, and graphic design. She has recently returned to her home in St. Petersburg and wants to make a difference in her community and in early education. As a teacher in the public school setting she knows firsthand the impact that early childhood education has on a child’s ability to learn and succeed.
